5 Tips for Destiny 2 Beginners from Bungie

Staff – October 1, 2019 at 10:29 AM

Now that Destiny 2’s base game has reemerged as the free-to-play, newcomer-friendlyDestiny 2: New Light, plenty of new players are awakening in the Cosmodrome and embarking on their journey as a Guardian for the first time. However, diving into a game with such a deep well of content can be intimidating at first.

To help assist anyone for whom New Light is their first-ever Destiny experience, Bungie has shared what they consider to be five essential tips for beginners. Given that it’s coming straight from the source, even more experienced Destiny players may find some tips below worth remembering.

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep 05

1. Create the Guardian you want. Don’t be afraid to experiment!

Try out everything at first until you get a feel for how you like to play. There are so many different combinations of weapons, subclasses, and armor perks that there may be an awesome setup in your inventory that’s perfect for you.

2. Be brave. Have fun.

Try out the activity that seems challenging – you never know what you’re going to like to do. Your Guardian can come back from anything.

3. Find a pack.

If you see someone doing a public event, jump in and help. If you enjoy playing a PvP match with another Guardian, send them a Fireteam invite. Sometimes, having a Fireteam can be the difference between glory and hard-earned lessons. But even then, a good Fireteam will have all of you dusting yourself off to try one more time for that perfect gear.

4. Don’t forget the bounties.

Vendors in the Tower and on-location offer bounties that can reward you with anything from extra experience to funds. Some of them, however, will even give you powerful new gear.

5. Any and all questions are welcome!

We’re here for you, Guardians! Go to Bungie.net: you can find game help from other Guardians, players looking for teammates, technical help on the #Help forums, and even join a clan to find more people to play with.
