If you weren’t able to make it to Cologne, Germany last week for Gamescom, don’t fret. We’ve got you covered with a roundup of the can’t-miss-can’t-forget news on some of the year’s most highly anticipated games from the world’s largest gaming event.

Fallout 76 flaunts 'New American Dream' in Gamescom trailer

In June, Fallout 76 revealed its Construction and Assembly Mobile Platform — an all-in-one base-building device that helps players establish their post-war settlements. C.A.M.P., as it's otherwise known, features heavily in the online multiplayer game's latest trailer. Read more at PC Gamer.

State of Decay 2 Daybreak DLC arrives September 12

State of Decay 2's DLC pack Daybreak arrives on PC September 12, adding a new mode to the zombie survival game. You'll play as a new character, a Red Talon soldier, and defend an outpost against seven waves of increasingly tough zombies. The DLC takes place on a new map and doesn't involve your existing community or characters, though the rewards you earn in Daybreak will give you benefits in the main game, including the ability to recruit a Red Talon elite soldier. Sea of Thieves' Forsaken Shores update is coming in September

During Microsoft's live Gamescom 2018 episode of Inside Xbox today, Sea of Thieves executive producer Joe Neate discussed some of the new stuff that'll appear on the horizon with the free Forsaken Shores update.

This will be the first Sea of Thieves update that adds a new area to the map, a volcanic bit of sea that's plenty active. Earthquakes will signal that an eruption is near, and when an island goes off, rocks will fly, geysers will shoot into the air, and the water around the shore will become super-heated, which is why rowboats are also being added. You won't start with a dinghy but you can discover them within the world and attach them to your ship. Read more at PC Gamer.

The Dark Pictures is a horror anthology series from the creators of Until Dawn

Supermassive Games, the studio responsible for PS4-exclusive horror adventure game Until Dawn, has announced The Dark Pictures — an anthology series of cinematic horror games. Check out the announcement trailer for its first entry, Man of Medan. Read more at PC Gamer.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden release date revealed in the day's weirdest trailer

The XCOM-meets-irradiated-Looney-Tunes tactical RPG Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is "weird as hell," as described by PC Gamer’s Wes Fenlon in his March preview of the game. In case you think he was kidding, spend 37 seconds watching the release date announcement trailer, which puts a pin in the calendar on December 4. Read more at PC Gamer.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Dark Souls’ creator, From Software, is back with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice — a similarly unforgiving action-RPG set in feudal Japan, though this time with a more vertical approach to level navigation and a higher emphasis on stealth. It still, however, contains the same lush backgrounds and variety of terrifying baddies for which Dark Souls and Bloodborne are known.

Devil May Cry 5

Capcom’s Devil May Cry series is back with Devil May Cry 5, featuring the same hack-and-slash gameplay and ultra-demonic foes that has kept fans coming back to the series over the past decade and a half — only this time with a photorealistic shine. A highlight from the gameplay trailer is definitely Dante arriving at the battlefield on a motorcycle that doubles as a dual-wielded chainsaw.

World War 3

World War 3 seeks to capture a realistic version of contemporary combat, complete with a physics-based ballistics system and battlefields inspired by real locations (Berlin, Moscow, and Warsaw all make appearances). The game will also feature a 64-player battle-royale mode centered on specialized objectives.

World War Z

The Gamescom trailer for upcoming team-based zombie shooter World War Z promises “hundreds of zombies on screen,” “dynamic swarm simulation,” and an “advanced gore system.” The sheer volume of zombies in World War Z’s horde is certainly something that sets it apart from previous zombie titles, demonstrating that the game takes advantage of today’s game development technology to allow as many body parts as possible to fly.
