Pathfinder Kingmaker Is the Tabletop RPG Adaptation We’ve Always Wanted

If you’re the kind of person who’s always been curious about tabletop RPGs but could never find a worthy dungeon master or wrangle your friends to show up to weekly sessions, look no further than Pathfinder Kingmaker to scratch that itch. Pathfinder Kingmaker is the first ever CRPG to adapt its namesake, the Pathfinder series of tabletop RPGs, to the computer screen. The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game is an evolution of the 3.5 rules set of the world's oldest fantasy roleplaying game, designed using the feedback of tens of thousands of gamers just like you.

Players are tasked with claiming the Stolen Lands of Golarion for their own dominion. However, the means by which they do that — and the kingdom that they erect once they’ve conquered the Stolen Lands — are completely at the whim of the player. Pathfinder Kingmaker strives to grant as much agency to the player as possible, giving them numerous opportunities to feel completely immersed in their character.

One of the most obvious examples of this is Pathfinder Kingmaker’s loyalty to Pathfinder’s alignment system. Whether you choose to be lawful good, chaotic evil, or anything in between these alignments, your choices will have consequences on the actions and dialogue options you encounter later in the game. This demonstrates the strong commitment to character-building and roleplaying that make tabletop games so compelling.

Customizing your character is also just as comprehensive and complex as it is in the tabletop version of Pathfinder. This means everything, such as your character’s appearance, race, class, and abilities can be hand-picked, as well as those of your companions.

Pathfinder Kingmaker also contains over a thousand spells, feats, and skills for your party’s use. It’s a deep combat system that encourages players to play precisely how they want to play and harkens back to the days when players had to rummage through their dungeon master’s guidebooks to determine what exactly a cantrip was intended to do.

Pathfinder Kingmaker promises to host dozens of hours of content, including several side missions and an entire kingdom to build and maintain. Its replay value is sure to be quite high as well, leaving players to wonder how their character’s story might have gone had they chosen a different alignment or class. If you’ve been hankering for an RPG that closely mirrors the tabletop experience, Pathfinder Kingmaker is worth checking out.

Pathfinder Kingmaker is now available on Steam.
