Ring of Elysium, Tencent’s free-to-play battle royale game, just received a major content update for its second season. Whether you’ve been a longtime player of RoE or a newcomer to the game, now’s your chance to explore the island of Europa, a brand new map inspired by the Mediterranean. In addition, Ring of Elysium’s Adventurer’s Pass Season Two also includes a whole host of other new features, including weapons, characters, and vehicles.
The map’s most prominent feature (and most impressive one) is an active volcano named Alecto. It’s located at the northeast corner of the map and can even be triggered in-game, causing an ashen fog to descend upon the battlefield.
Europa’s transformation from a sunny, picturesque island town into a gray, ember-ridden warzone is a stunning one to behold. It also adds an exciting new strategic dimension to the combat by obscuring players’ vision. It’s also a smart way of building tension throughout a round, keeping players on their toes in anticipation of when the volcano will erupt.
The new season also includes new dynamic weather patterns, including clouds, heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning, high-speed winds, fog, and typhoons. These elements spice up the game by introducing some welcome randomness and variation.
Just as with Ring of Elysium’s first season of the Adventurer’s Pass, the second season also offers access to new weapons, vehicles, and three playable Adventure Characters. Hang gliders, BMX bikes, and grappling hooks provide players with a variety of new means to traverse the map, while machine guns, MG4s, and PKMs help round out the game’s weapon loadouts. Players will also get the opportunity to pilot a cross-harbor tunnel submarine.
Speaking of Europa’s mysterious waters, the island also harbors an underwater world that’s home to a terrifying sea monster. We won’t give away what else you might find while journeying into the deep; you’ll just have to find out yourself.
All in all, Ring of Elysium’s second season contains enough new features to completely revitalize the game. The addition of Alecto and dynamic weather patterns make matches feel cinematic, and Europa is so beautifully designed that players will certainly find joy in exploring its many nooks and crannies.
